We understand that primary functional care is a new concept to some people, and we want to address any questions or concerns you may have about the way we practice medicine.  Below are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions that we get from new patients.

Q: What IS functional medicine?

A: Dr. Dubyak defines functional medicine by saying, “Function Medicine identifies and addresses the root causes of disease and views the body as an integrative system.  It treats the whole body holistically and not just by a symptom or condition.”

The human body is an amazingly crafted masterpiece.  All parts work together to create a whole person – you!  You are not defined by your symptoms or your diseases, and we do not treat you as such.  Instead, we view your body as the complex, interconnected system that it is and identify the underlying causes that manifest themselves into the symptoms, illnesses, and conditions that you experience.

With our patient-centered approach, our integrative team focuses on all of the systems and identifies how they are functioning so that we can create a plan to optimize your health.  We look at your hormones, your detoxification function, your energy metabolism, your immune function, your digestion function, your lifestyle, your nutrition, and your external stressors and create a complete treatment program for you based on your unique make-up.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We require 48 hours’ notice for all cancelled and rescheduled appointments.  Please be courteous to all other patients so that we can continue to provide the best care.  There will be a $50 fee for all canceled and no-show appointments without 48 hours’ notice.

Q:  What do I bring to my first appointment?

A: Please bring a list of all current medications and supplements that you are taking with the dosage.  If you could bring the bottles, that would be even better! If you would like to bring a friend or family member for support, you are more than welcome to.  You do not need to bring any recent lab work as we will be ordering comprehensive labs for you at your initial appointment.

Q:  How much do your programs cost and do you accept insurance?

A: AIM360 does accept insurance with the following providers: 

  • Highmark
  • Cigna
  • United
  • UPMC
  • Aetna
  • If your insurance provider is not listed, ask about options at your first appointment

Q:  How do I order supplements?

A: You must be an AIM360 patient to order supplements through our online store.  You will be able to order all supplements through the online portal where you completed your health history questionnaire.  All supplements will be shipped directly to your home so that you don’t need to continue to come in to the office to pick up your supplements.

Q: Will I be able to get off of my current medications?

A: Our functional team works diligently to improve your health so that we can help reduce your medications or completely get you off of them.  Dr. Dancy collaborates with your PCP to adjust any medications, and advises when you should or should not stop them.
